"K." served as the Director of the Ascension Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness and as Chairperson of their Local Emergency Preparedness Committee (LEPC) from 1989 to 2004. He is an active member of numerous organizations including the parish's Hazardous Materials Team, Chemical Industry's CAER Committee, Geismar Area Mutual Aid, Ascension Mutual Aid Association, Ascension Parish Communications District, East Ascension Fire Chief's Association, and the Southeast Louisiana Hurricane Task Force.
